Route Notes From Vikas Dimri (Instagram): 30 April 2025 Expedition update: We’ve run out of time. When I arrived at Ama Dablam base camp, the weather had improved after a bout of persistent snow. That allowed us to climb through exposed rock faces and some very technical sections gaining an altitude of ~6200 mts. The climb from camp 1 to camp 2 was thrilling & scary at the same time with drops of nearly 2000 ft all through the route. The weather, however, turned late last week, and has continued to snow on the steep slopes of this beautiful mountain. The sight is prettier, but the climb has become riskier. After a few terrible accidents on the higher slopes, and no clear visibility on when the weather window is likely to open, most teams have already called off their expeditions. As time runs out on us, we have finally taken a call to acknowledge the wish of the mountain and call off our expedition, too. I’m heading home without any regrets. With months of training, I felt strong and fit in the mountains to be able to enjoy the beautiful climb, while it lasted. Every morning, when the sun revealed itself from behind Ama Dablam, I could not but feel grateful, for having the good fortune to witness that sight from the lap of my favourite mountain. It was fun climbing & sharing base camp with you - Evelyn, Giamba, Phil, Mike, John, Timos & Mingmar! Mt Ama Dablam, I will visit you again! Thank you all for your good wishes & prayers! They kept me safe.
