| Route Notes | BC 23/10 4500m (Ama Dablam Lodge) ABC 24/10 5400m C1 25/10 5700m C2 26/10 6000m Smt 27/10 by Berendt and Nowak. Team started for summit from C2 at 2 am, Nowak reached top at 11 am, Berendt at 12 pm. Nowak waited on the summit for Berendt, weather was very good, not much wind. They descended together to C2 (arrival: 9 pm), on 28 Oct they went down to Ama Dablam Lodge. Strelau and Bulczak were one day behind the rest of the group. They together with Lhakpa Nuru Sherpa started summit push from C2 at 1 am on 28 Oct. Bulczak didn't feel well and had some problems with his eyes. He turned around with Lhakpa Nuru at 6500m at 1 pm. They went down to C2, arriving at 7 pm. Strelau went on, but had to turn at 6700m at 4 pm because he was too slow and ran out of power. He was back at C2 at 10 pm. Next day Strelau, Bulchak and Lhakpa Nuru went down to Pangboche. Kowalski only made it up to C2. Pawlowski was the leader of the group, but was not on permit and never intended to climb himself. Wiktor Wajda climbed Island Peak with the group but wasn't on AMAD permit either. Team left BC on 29 Oct. Oxygen; Not taken not used. Hired: Lhakpa Nuru Sherpa, Phortse, 18/06/1980 |
