Route Notes The team abandoned the expedition after the fatal ice avalanche that killed Dendi Sherpa during the team's summit bid on 3 Nov. From Himalayan Ascent website: Early morning on November 3rd, Dendi Sherpa was guiding a strong Swiss team of three on their summit bid on Ama Dablam. They started from Camp 2 at midnight and had passed Camp 3 by 3 am. Shortly after this time, the team was hit by falling ice. Dendi was in front and sadly he was hit directly. A rescue was conducted at the earliest opportunity to evacuate the surviving Swiss climbers. Hans Rudolf climbing behind Dendi sustained injuries to his pelvis and he's currently recovering in Kathmandu. The other two Swiss climbers, Catherine Martinson and Thomas Martinson, were generally unharmed and are relocated in Kathmandu. We have cancelled our remaining expeditions on Ama Dablam. From eKantipur.com & Himalayan Times: SOLUKHUMBU, NOV 04 - One person died and two others have been injured due to an avalanche occurred on Mt Ama Dablam at Khumjung-7 on Monday. The deceased has been identified as 26-year-old Dendi Sherpa of Jubing-3. The avalanche occurred at around 6 am. Similarly, 42-year-old Hans Rudolf and 35-year-old Tina Rufela Graf, both Swiss nationals, have sustained injury in the incident. Rudolf suffers a broken back while Graf has received general injuries, police said. They have been brought to Kathmandu for treatment.
