| Route Notes | Hamill leads large teams to Everest for International Mountain Guides (IMG), but this season he led one private client on a much smaller moutain, Ama Dablam. The two members and one Sherpa, Nuru Gyalzen, established BC on 24 October and occupied C1 three days later. A tent was pitched at C2 for storing supplies, but not intended for climbers to occupy, and indeed they did not. On the 29th they climbed to the camp's site at 6100m for acclimatization and returned to BC the same day. They rested in BC for two nights, then returned to C1 on 1 November and the next day up to C2 site and down to C1 to sleep. But of the 3rd, instead of moving up the mountain, they abandoned the climb and descended to BC. Follows had run out of steam. The team fixed no rope themselves, but contributed to the work of others. Katrina Follows plans to attempt Lhotse in 2015. Sherpa: Nuru Gyalzen Sherpa, 18/8/73, Phortse, Everest X6, Manaslu X2 |
