Route Notes High point at 6250m at mushroom ridge top. Email from Elio Schijlen to Miss Hawley - 20 December 2013 After our acclimatization climbing of Island peak we indeed arrived at Ama Dablam basecamp on 31 October. On 1 November we moved up to advanced base camp (5200m) and descend to basecamp again. On 4 November we climbed to C1 (5700m), and following day to C2 (5900m). On 5 November we put up our tent on C2, left some equipment and descend to basecamp. We were three persons in our team, and all three of us climbed according to the day schedule. Nicole Rouyen decided to go for trekking and left basecamp on November 6th, Roland Hammann and I decided to stay on Ama Dablam. On 7 November we started from basecamp and climbed to C2. On 8 November we climbed from C2 up to the mushroom ridge. At top of this ridge (approx 6250m) we decided to descend. Snow conditions were not ideal and Roland suffered too much from altitude sickness to be able to force a summit push. We took all our equipment down and late afternoon we arrived again at basecamp. The route was not more difficult than expected. It was however much more crowded than we expected. On 9 November we left Ama Dablam basecamp and went to Gokyo Ri and flew from Lukla on 15 November.
