Route Notes Jones was inserted within the other expeditions group of Himalayan Ascent, the whole group hiring 7 Sherpas, with one dedicated to his expedition: Ang Gelu Sherpa, 23/7/1970, Surke, Chaurikharka-4, Solu After the snow fell, the route became very bad and seeing no possibility of the route being prepared in the future, Jones went back to the BC to keep his energy for a summit push, expecting a possible attempt on the 28-29 October. But the Nepali team equipping the normal route couldn't reach further than C2.7, mostly in dangerous conditions of snow on the mushroom ridge. Jones had to decide to abandon any hope for the summit on the 29 October mostly as the weather forecast announced strong winds coming from the 3rd November, so left BC on the 31 October.
