Route Notes Sigekrans reached C1 and slept there on 29 April. But he developed a "terrible headache," which he attributed to altitude sickness. On the 30th he descended to BC, and on 1 May he went to Pangboche village, where he stayed two nights and regained his health. He went back to his BC on 3 May and moved to C1 on the 5th. But no ropes had been fixed above C2, no one had brought rope to fix, and according to his Sherpa, Pasang, there was not enough Sherpa manpower present to fix it. Sigekrans stayed at the site for his C2 only about an hour and half; there was no point in his staying longer after he learned about the non-existence of the ropes.
