Route Notes On 21 November, members occupied C2 for the first time while two Sherpas went ahead to set up C3 and returned to C2 that day. The weather was very windy. The members stayed in C2 for three nights while the wind continued to blow too strong for them to advance. They retreated to BC on the 24th. On the 25th the members (all nine of them) moved up to C1 and on the 26th to C2. But the wind was still too fierce for the members to go higher. The next day, the 27th, they descended to BC, left the mountain and spent that night at Pangboche. The climb was over. Peter didn't know exactly how strong the winds were, but he did know that they destroyed four tents at BC.
