Route Notes The team arrived at BC on 10 November, but before attempting Ama Dablam, they first went to Island Peak via Chhukung. They arrived at Island Peak on the 14th and it was summited on the 15th by Samimi, Szymiec, Thielen. They returned to Ama Dablam BC on the 19th, without Hata, who had left the day before by helicopter from Pangboche (Hata wasn't eating -- consuming too much whiskey?). All the four remaining members moved up to C1 on the 21st. While they had been away climbing Island Peak, Pemba Rinzi had gone up to 6000m, pitched C2 at 6000m and stocked it. But none of the members ever reached it. On the 22nd they were getting ready to go up and occupy C2, but Booker was developing altitude sickness, Szymiec's gloves and mattress was stolen, Thielen was climbing too slowly due to lack of sufficient strength, and Pemba Rinzi had twisted his ankle while taking the departing Hata's bag to Pangboche. So instead of moving up, they descended to BC. The climb was finished. Sherpa: Pemba Rinzi, 1/1/65, Makalu-5, Sankhuwasabha, Everest X4
