| Route Notes | The team's two Sherpas set up C1's tents at 5100m and returned to BC while the two members were at BC arguing about their climbing plans. The leader, Shinohara, a professional mountain guide, had been hired by Ms. Ito in Japan to lead her, but she did not provide any time in their program for acclimatization, which Shinohara and their sirdar, Tul Bahadur Tamang, considered essential. On the 26th, the two members and two Sherpas left BC for C1, but the two Japanese continued arguing about Shinohara's tactics. He decided at 4700m that they should go back to BC, and they descended accordingly. The next day they had a meeting of the two members and two Sherpas; Ms. Ito decided to abandon the climb. On the 29th the Sherpas brought down all the gear they had left at the site for C1, and the next day the team left BC to return to Kathmandu. Hired: Tul Bahadur Tamang, 30/8/66, Deusa, Solu, Dhaulagiri I X1, Cho Oyu X2, Everest X2, Manaslu X1 |
