Route Notes Arrival in Lukla April 13th. Arrival in base camp April 14 2012(~14,800'). Departure 29th April. Camp 1 April 18th-19th (~19,500') BC April 20th Camp 1 April 23rd Camp 2 April 24-27th (~20,000') Summit Bid 1 April 25th - We (myself, Scott, Lakpa) reached below hanging glacier ~21,300' (Chris was at base of snowfield (~21,000'). Returned 1 pm because of slow pace as we (mostly Lakpa) fixed ropes, I was carrying 1000' rope and was largely the mule. Around 6 other members from other parties also turned around as they were either unwilling or incapable of fixing ropes. Camp 2 April26th Rest Day Summit Day April 27 - All other parties (except 1) had descended to BC and we (myself, Chris and Scott) teamed up with a strong Swiss-American team [Ueli Steck and Freddie Wilkinson] fixing ropes to summit. Lakpa returned to BC due to fatigue. (Chris Possa returned after maybe 2 hours (6 am) after departure due to fatigue and light headedness reaching a high point lower than standard Camp 3 (~20,700'). We summited around 1:30 April 27th behind Swiss/Americans. Waited for Scott 20 min and departed summit maybe 2:15 pm. Scott seemed lethargic and I found myself looking after him and waiting on the descent quite frequently. I arrived in Camp 2 around 6:00 pm as it was getting dark. Brewed some water and watched Scott's progress down the last gully. He required some amount of assistance coming back from the last stretches, but still seemed mentally present, just surprisingly lethargic. Both Chris and Lakpa had descended to base camp and we were alone at Camp 2. April 28th - Retrieved gear and descended to BC April 29th - Departed base camp and arrived in Lukla that evening. April 30th - Arrival in Kathmandu. No Sherpas were used by myself, Chris and Scott other than Lakpa, who did the vast majority of rope fixing on the mountain. Although he was not present for the final summit bid, it would not have been possible without all of his physical and logistical efforts. The relationship was a mix of partner/guide/friend/teammate, so I don't think it would qualify as "Sherpas used."
