| Route Notes | After having established his first two high camps, Fasching descended to BC to rest. Then there was a period of bad weather, and on 5 May he went to the nearby village of Pangboche for its internet connection. He returned to BC on the 7th and moved up to C1 on the 9th and to C2 on the 10th. When he went inside his tent at C2, he discovered that gear he had left there (crampons, ice axe and down jacket) were gone. He could not climb higher without these vital items. He had arrived at C2 at 5:00 pm. An hour later, he left for C1, where he arrived at 11:00 pm. It had been difficult to descend to C1 on the slippery surface without crampons. He was back in BC on the 10th and left the same day to return to Kathmandu. |
