Route Notes Although they had thought they might try Ama Dablam's West Face, the two Andorrans did not do so but concentrated solely on the normal SW Ridge route. They climbed basically in alpine style. They had no Sherpa support, fixed no ropes, and bivouacked at C1 and C2 sites; they had a tent at C3 for their summit bid. They arrived at BC on 5 April, "went up to C1 at 4500m on the 7th and on the 8th climbed to the C2 site at 5500m and left some gear there, but descended to BC the same day to rest. On 11 April they bivouacked again at C1, and on the 12th they moved up to C3 at 6100m and slept there. On the 13th, they climbed up to the top of the mushroom at 6200m. But it was very cold and very windy, so they retreated all the way to BC that day. They moved up again from BC on the 20th and slept at C3. The next day, 21 April, they set out for the top rather late, at 8:00 am, because it was very windy until then. They reached the Dablam at 6500m at 2:00 pm, which they felt as too late for them to continue to the summit; they turned around here. They would have liked to spend that night in C3, but their tent at this camp was in bad condition. They descended to their C2 bivouac, where they arrived at 7:00 am. On 22 April they went down to BC and on to Pangboche. They flew out from Lukla on the 25th.
