| Route Notes | The team were semi-independent of the Field Touring Ama Dablam expedition: they used the same trekking agency and the same tents and stoves, but brought their own food and sleeping bags and made their own decisions about the climb. The three members attempted to go to the summit on 20 November. They were stopped at 6500m by strong winds which drove them back to C2, where they stayed in an empty tent without food, water or sleeping bags. They left C2 for the top again on 21 November. They started rather late, at about 8:00 am, and reached the summit at about 5:15 pm. The returned to C2 at 11:30 pm. They were back in BC at 6:00 pm on the 22nd. All ten of Scace's fingers were badly frostbitten, and he flew by helicopter from BC to Kathmandu on the 23. O'Malley went with him. |
