Route Notes Before going to Ama Dablam, the team acclimatized on Lobuche East. Bonney and Swift summited on 6 October and the remaining members except Dingwall were on the top of the following day. The expedition was unable to get to the summit because of deep sugary snow which could not hold pitons or crampons. Their high point was the site for C3. Bonney, Dingwall and Morgan left C2 at 6:00 am on 22 October, reached the campsite at 2:00 pm, immediately turned around and went back to C2. The climb was finished. Bonney had been in the party to try for the top despite the fact that one leg had been amputated below the knee following an accident. Hogan left the team early. He got a chest infection at BC after having climbed to C1 on 14 October. He went down to Pangboche on the 18th or 19th, went to Khumjung the next day, and did not return to BC. Fixed rope: 250m between C2 & C3 site.
