Route Notes The team made two attempts to reach the summit, but both were defeated by unstable snow that would not hold snowbars or ice axes, and therefore it was impossible to go much above 6000m. C1 was established on 12 Oct by all members. On the 13th Estanyol, Llantada and Pueyo moved up to C2 at 6000m, and on 14 October the three men started to go higher. But at 6050m they gave up in the face of the unstable snow, and all members went down to C1 to sleep and descended to BC on the 15th. On the 16th Baena, Ponce and Pueyo moved up to C1 while the other two remained in BC. On 17th October Baena, Ponce and Pueyo ascended to C2. But they went no higher than C2, and on the 18th they were back in BC, having abandoned any hope of further progress. Meanwhile on the 18th Estanyol and Llantada left BC on the 18th and were in Namche Bazar that night. The remaining three members followed them to Namche on the 19th.
