Route Notes Mountain Madness Ama Dablam Expedition, led by Seth Hobby - 27 Nov 2008 The team's three members and two Sherpas left for the summit from C2 at 3:30 am on 20 November. When they reached 6450m at 10:30 am, the members turned back. Morias had a bad cold and Payne's pace was too slow. Furthermore the weather was not in their favor, Hobby felt; a wind was blowing, and clouds coming in from the west suggested snowfall was on its way. The three members and Lama Babu went down to C2 at 3:00 to 3:30 pm. But Pasang Dawa pushed on to the summit and joined them in C2 at about 5:30 pm. The team decided that evening to abandon the climb since two members were not fit enough to make another summit bid. Next day they wall went down to BC. While Payne was descending between C2 and C1, he twisted his knee. Despite the pain, he managed to get to BC, but they called for a helicopter, and he was evacuated from BC to Kathmandu on the 22nd. The two other members left BC on the 24th and arrived in Kathmandu on the 26th. Fixed rope: 150-200m between C1 & C2. Sherpas: Lama Babu, 23/9/68, Bung, Solu, Everest X3 (on 16 Oct, he went to 6000m high point with Canadian Ama Dablam team led by Michel Collins) Pasang Dawa, 25/5/84 (12/2/2041), Tate, Chaurikharka-7, Solu, no 8000ers
