Route Notes C3 at mushroom ridge. Adventure Consultants Ama Dablam 2008, led by Steven Moffat - 10 Nov 2008 The first summit party was successful: Kuehn, Flowerday, Stein, Westgate, Lhakpa Dorje and Sonam Tshering left C3 on 2 Nov at 8:30 am and reached the summit at 2:00 pm. They descended to C3 at 6:00 to 6:30 pm and next day were in BC. The second summit party were not so fortunate. Wiedemer and Pemba Chhoti got to C2 on 1 Nov, but Wiedemer was moving too slowly, and Moffat told him he had to go down to BC on the 2nd, and he did under Moffat's escort from C2. Other members: Austin-Cheval reached C2. Drotar and Hochreiter got to 6000m, but didn't like the threat of being hit by pieces of ice falling off the Dablam; they left on 31 October. Haydock left on 1 November because of the fatal fall by French climber Jean Mary (on Daniel Petraud's team) the day before. Ludwig reached 6000m and left on 1 November because of Mary's fatal fall. McCall didn't like the threat from the Dablam, stayed at BC for the rest of the climbing period.
