Route Notes 18 Oct party of six in C3 planned to go to top on 19th. During night there were 3 avalanches (last at 4:00 am on 19th) that just missed this team and other team's camps, which had been pitched to right of what turned out to be an avalanche path. Party down to C1 tired because of little sleep and frightened. Avalanches were pieces of the dablam; could hear avalanching - most at nights but not known where they came from. All in BC on 20th (had called off second summit party's bid). Bachman left team at Pangboche on 7 Oct before reaching BC; not suited to camp life. Higgins left on 15 Oct because not fit. Janzan, Korn and Rippel were in C1 poised to make 2nd summit bid that was cancelled. Sherpas: Ang Gyalzen, 19/4/84 (7/1/2041), Khotang Ngima Tendi, 25/5/74 (12/2/2031), Khotang
