Route Notes ABC at yak camp High point at yellow tower. First group of five people (leader Atkinson, Coats, Law-Smith, Robertson and Wilson): Phakding, Namche, Monjo, Gokyo Valley, Dole, Marchamo, Gokyo, Thagnac, Dugla, Lobuche BC, Lobuche high camp, Dingboche, Pokhalde, high camp Chhukung, Island Peak BC, Pangboche. Second Group (Bentley, Hallam, Hollingworth, McDonald, Moriarty, Shaw and Williams): Phakding, Namche, Dingboche, Chhukung, Island Peak BC and Pangboche. Atkinson, Bentley, Coats, McDonald, Moriarty, Robertson, Shaw, Williams and Wilson and six Sherpas left C1 on 3 Nov for C2. Atkinson said that there were many climbers on the route. The expedition members had to wait for 2-3 hours and it was getting dark, so then descended from 6000m at 14:00 hours to BC between 17:20-18:20 hours. Next day it was snowing and Atkinson tried to negotiate with other expeditions for space at C2, but could not make do so. Then the team decided to leave BC. The expedition returned to Kathmandu on 8 Nov. Members leave on different dates. Hallam left BC on 2 Nov; went up to ABC on 1 Nov. Bentley, McDonald and Shaw left BC on 4 Nov. Hollingworth was sent back from Pangboche on 31 Oct due to altitude sickness. Law-Smith left the expedition on 26 Oct from Chhukung.
