| Route Notes | High point at Mushroom Ridge. Information provided by Lhakpa Nuri: Both members slept in C1 on 1 May with plan to summit on 8 May after making C2 and C3 but on 2 May they did not get to C2. Parry got bad headache from altitude and turned back at 5700m or more; Van Nostrand got up to the Mushroom Ridge at 5900m, but it is quite technical, no place to camp there and had no waterproof sleeping bag with him, so he also return to C1 for the night. They returned to BC on 3 May and left on 5 May. Parry flew Lukla/KTM on 11 May and left Nepal 14 May; Van Nostrand returned to Kathmandu 13 May and left Nepal 17 or 18 May (stayed at friend's home on return). Jay Parry (by telephone) - 3 Oct 2006 Jay went to planned C2 campsite (5800m) and then turned back because he did not plan to stay there and had no sleeping gear. John also went to C2 site or slightly higher and turned back due to lack of waterproof sleeping bag (there were adequate camping spots). Jay and John went up independent of each other. The team did not take fixed ropes and the ropes in place were damaged and frayed. Jay would like to return sometime to finish the job. |
