| Route Notes | Peter got bad stomach trouble, then headache, so went to 5500m on 15 Nov and back to BC. 16 Nov to Pangboche, 17th BC and headache and stayed at BC till wife joined him and they left. Laetitia down to BC 18 Nov, to C1 20 Nov, to C3 21 Nov. 22 Nov she and Lhakpa Thundu Sherpa left for top at 8:00 am, reached 6550m at 10:00, then she was very cold and with 2 more hours to top they turned around. Now her left eye went opaque (had laser surgery) so down to C1 (eyesight blurred now) and BC 23 Nov. Was frozen snow crust on route, making difficulty for using ice axe. Clear weather but windy and wind very cold. Team was on Henry Todd's permit and used his BC and higher camps tents, Todd's food at BC (but own food above), his kitchen staff and his Sherpa Lhakpa Thundu. Sherpa: Lhakpa Thundu Sherpa, Pangboche, 20/5/70 |
