Route Notes Steck arrived BC 24 Oct directly from Lukla, while all other members went first to Nangpa La, Renjo La, Phortse and Pangboche, so arrived on 2nd Nov. Steck left BC alone at 4:00 am on 2 Nov, got to summit at 12:00 noon and returned to BC same day at 4:00 pm. On 6 Nov Mattei, Nottaris, Schmid, Spinelli, Steck (again), Dendi Sherpa left BC at 4:30 am and on top at 12:00 noon, then down to C1 that night. Caverzarsio went to C1 on 4th Nov, was tired so descended to BC on 5th and left expedition 6th Nov. Summit Sherpas: Dendi Sherpa, Gudel VDC, Sonam, Solu (Dec 1972) Lhakpa Tenje Sherpa, Gudel VDC, Sanam, Solu Nottaris twisted his ankle on way from Pangboche to Namche on 10 Nov.
