| Route Notes | High point at 6200m at normal site for C3. At C1 used tent of fellow New Zealander Anna Keeling, member of Angela Hawse expedition. Went for summit from C1, but extremely cold wind drove him back from 6200m and he returned to C1 that night. He left the mountain and went to Khumjung on the 6th and Lukla on the 8th. Not clear why he didn't do what Hawse members did, which was to retreat on 5th from 6200m and wait below for better weather; perhaps he simply had enough climbing by now after having been on 2 trekking peaks and wanted to to go home now. Sedon by email - 27 Nov 03 Left Ama Dablam immediately because it was the end of my trip after guiding Lobuche (Lobuje) East and Island Peak. |
