Route Notes Not all members slept in ABC. 17th in C2 Lange, Hall and Fischer to sleep while Boltz, Didwiszus, Goering, Koch and Lutz onto C3 because space too small for more than three. Windy in C3 but clear days for climbing. On 18th Sherpa summiters: Nawang Thile and his son Pemba [Chhoti]. Rackl fell: went to C2 to check ropes and while he was 20m below C2 the rope he was attached to, an old rope, broke and he fell 200m down South Face into snowfield: body lowered by US climber and later this team's 2 Sherpas put body in plastic body and with members help and took to lake bottom of Face and covered with rocks. After Rackl's fatal accident, Dietrich and Edel decided to abandon the climb and went trekking to Kalapattar, rejoined team at BC on 19th.
