Island Peak - all attempted, only Alan Silva summited, rest were 30m from top. Tia Rana Silva, daughter of Alan Silva, 20 months old (28 Aug 2001), spent 2 nights @ BC - no problems. Jangbu Sherpa - Okhaldhunga, 38 years old, twice summited Ama Dablam this time, twice summited previously; summited Pumori, Everest C3. Weather good. Summit day, May 19 - no views. BC - little litter, only 2 toilets - need 1-2 more. Ropes - too many and in bad condition which can be dangerous - need to get them off. Fixed ropes - Jangbu Sherpa replaced 300m: C2->C3, 200m; C3->summit, 100m Swiss Sherpa replaced 250m: C1->C2 Independent Himalayan Adventure Guide Sarki Tamang, aka Bir was a BC sirdar Expeditions report to Tourism Ministry after returning to KTM gives following altitudes: BC 4770m 5 May C1 5950m 7 May C2 6160m 9 May C3 6430m 10 May Summit on 11 and 19 May ** Trekking agent, Chandra Bahadur Niraula, 7 July '03, says both Castley and Jangbu descended to BC after 11 May summit and made record complete climb from BC to top for 18 May summit.
