Route Notes This team, Amical Waertl's team and Buet French team cooperated about fixed ropes, use of tents, going to top first, etc. Lannamann and Mazur with Jangbu and Lhakpa made alpine-style attempt on NE ridge teams northwest towards summit below Amphu Gyabjen Peak. 5 Nov went to 5300m on NE ridge and biv; 6 Nov to 5500m and 7 Nov to 5750m and to 5500m to sleep. 8 Nov 5900m just below junction with N Ridge and back to 5500m to sleep. Now food and fuel supplies nearly exhausted. Very steep rock with lot of snow covering parts of it. Realized route too long with slow progress in time left to reach summit. 9 Nov all the way down to Dingboche. Needed atleast 8 more days on this long steep ridge to get to top. Two members left before climbing finished: Kuhles arrived at BC 8 Oct and left 9 Oct; not serious about climbing. Rolfson had chronic stomach trouble: ABC only and left BC 15 Oct.
Accidents Several falls on fixed ropes but not hurt; chronic stomach trouble
