Route Notes Oct 21 left C2 at 02:30 hours, reached summit at 10:15 hours. Spent about 25 minutes on summit. Returned to C2 at 16:00 hours. Had rest about two hours in C3 site. Barton Bemus had to stop at C2 due to headache. Rest were in C1. It was windy and clear day. Valdez says he was the only person on the mountain on the summit. Climbed alone. Probably only person done so in the year 2000. Other members might had done better if the Sherpas were skilled climbers. Actually the agency suggested they have Sherpas. Ang Dorji Sherpa (53) too old to do work. Lhakpa Temba Sherpa (39) is shy and following the advice of Ang Dorji. They appreciate the job of SPCC, but they feel they need more monitoring of their job.
