Route Notes BC at normal site ABC just below boulder field (2 members only) C1 at normal site High point at base of snow slope of grey tower. Yak camp occupied one night only by blind Weihenmayer and Gipe because Erik wanted to tackle boulder field in good condition in morning. High point on 14th on way to establish C3, but turned back because snowstorm and down to C2. Tried to go down that day, but white-out drove them back to C3. Big struggle to get all people and gear down mountain in "epic 2 days." Erik Weihenmayer (blind) jummaring descent in 12 hours. Did all rope fixing while others stayed below waiting for their team to do the job for them. "2 weeks of real hardwork." Schedule did not permit long wait for better weather and Erik not willing to go up again once he was down in BC. Erik: doesn't need constant company on ice climbing and rock climbing same, but mixed climbing and traversing and snow slopes need some one near to give information including tapping rock and wearing bells in snow slope but no touching. Everest in Spring 91 with acclimatization on mountain slowly with Scaturro leading with C5. Climbed because I enjoy adventure, you learn about yourself and "outside world." Climbing to prove blind can do it "is shallow." No timetable but wants all 7 summits and goes to Carstensz Pyramid Autumn 2000 and Everest Spring 2001.
Accidents Alexander fell with loose boulder but only bruises but developed pulmonary edema
